Power Holdup Protection
If power is interrupted at any time while data is being programmed into the NAND, it is
possible that data loss may occur and the MLC NAND's lower page may become cor-
rupted. This can cause drive errors to be reported to the host. To prevent these errors
from occurring, the device implements an energy storage solution called a power hold-
up circuit that maintains power to the NAND while it is being programmed, even if
power to the system is interrupted. By supporting power holdup, the device ensures
that data integrity in the drive is preserved to prevent the loss of data and the reporting
of drive errors to the host.
